Circle of Inspiration Spotlight: Jessica Rae
Describe who you are and what you do:
I don’t really feel like I fit into one specific category. I like to play with makeup and paint my body haha. Cosplay is one of my favorite artistic outlets. I love recreating other characters and adding my own spin to it. Sometimes I jump on tiktok and add the voiceovers to really make the character come to life.
What drew you to this particular creative outlet?
I’ve always loved experimenting with my look. It’s just a fun way to be whoever you want to be in the moment.
When did you decide to pursue your passion?
February of 2016 I was heartbroken over a relationship that didn’t workout. I created my first look I was really proud of. A skeleton holding her broken heart in her hands. It got a lot of positive feedback and thats when I first realized maybe I was pretty good at this. They say a broken heart is good for your art!
Where do you draw inspiration from?
I get inspired by human connection. My emotions always drive my creative side. Sometimes I get in these really introverted phases where I don’t physically want to be around many people so I’ll make art to connect with others through social media. It’s a great way to connect with people who share similar interests.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned on your creative journey?
It’s not a competition so be kind to yourself. We can be our own worst critics. Not everything you make will be good. Take a break when you need to but never quit. As you cultivate and grow your gifts you are inspiring others to do the same.
What are you currently working on?
Honestly myself. I’m taking time right now to focus on my mental and physical health. With all the uncertainty in the world right now I think that’s super important. My next creative project will come out of nowhere when I feel I have something to say! Haha
Any words of advice for someone getting started in your field?
Just be yourself. That’s what is so fun about the creative field. You’re trying to open a new way of seeing things. There is no right or wrong. Trust your gut and give out what you want to attract.
